Less visible (or hidden) consequences of conviction in Spanish system

Many consequences, not foreseen by the Criminal Code, affect the convicted, even for the rest of their lives. Particularly relevant in this respect are the effects of a criminal record, hindering the access to certain jobs or benefits, and in relation to immigrants and foreigners, placed in a permanent situation of “deportability”. In the framework of the fight against invisible (or more or less hidden penalties), the need for a complete revision of all these consequences —and, particularly, of the social and legal effects of criminal record— is therefore defended, with explicit and general regulation of the principles and values to be respected in this regard.
