Abstract

Starting from the premise that the clamor of citizens, stimulated by media populism, features in a relevant pillar of the punitive populism, this article aims to address the influence of the mass media in the formation of public opinion, not forgetting to comment about the performance of social media in this scenario, once both points are linked to what is called “media penal populism”.
